The FLOWER PATCH PALS

Join us as we grow from greenhouse to the
 FLOWER PATCH
and enjoy a summer of FRIENDS & FUN!

This book is designed to get children excited about planting and gardening!
Come on in and meet: Polly Pansy, Benny Bachelor Button, Rita Rose, Hollis Hollyhock, Zelda Zinnia and Willey the Woolly Thyme!
While this book is entertaining for children it is also a learning tool - but they won’t mind this one bit. Each of the 6 short stories highlights a different flower character that has a problem to solve. Benny has been waiting anxiously to be planted in the Flower Patch – but something happens and he has to learn to see things from a different point of view. Rita Rose has thorns and some of the younger plants seem to think that’s funny. Willey the Woolly Thyme is everywhere and some flowers don’t like that, until they find out how he is really helping them.
Children can learn how to solve real-life problems and learn a few basic facts about these flowers and gardening in general along the way. There are a few simple projects at the end to inspire our children to plant, garden and enjoy!

I have lived in New England for my entire life - New Hampshire as a child and Maine as an adult. I was actually born in Maine, but my parents moved to New Hampshire when I was fairly young (with a quick stop in New Jersey). I was raised on a modest, horse farm where there were both barn chores and house chores. My husband and I have two fantastic adult children and four equally fantastic grandsons.
I have always enjoyed writing.  However, it was all related to work. At first it was in the legal arena where I helped to write reports for court and depositions.  Later it was in a hospital where I was assigned medical policies & procedures; making sure they were current and easy to read and understand.
I never had the time to do the fun, creative writing until the past couple of years. I am a part-time copy editor for a small newspaper. The Flower Patch Pals is my first book.
My hobbies are: flower gardening, knitting, reading, and socializing with “the girls.”
While this has been a wonderful experience and I do love my little Flower Patch Pals a lot; a big treat for me was to work with my sister on this project, as she did the illustrations and it has been awesome to work on this together. While she lives in New Hampshire and I’m here in Maine, we have been thankful for the world of digital communication – which made this interstate partnership work seamlessly.
