Rockland to Round Top
Book II : Bowdoin
by Russell A. Dole
It is the year 1857, and the federal government in Washington, D.C. is struggling to come to grips with the national divide brought on by the disagreements concerning the institution of slavery and its extension into the western territories. This unresolved and emotional issue is threatening the future of the fragile republic. As this crisis unfolds, In Search Of Honor Book II: Bowdoin begins with eighteen-year-old Benjamin Dean back in Rockland, Maine, struggling with the fate of his own future. A last-minute decision to accompany his sister Carrie on a trip down the coast to Brunswick will put Benjamin in contact with two very important people from his past. The renewed connections will alter his life forever. Amidst this backdrop of a divided nation on the brink of collapse, Benjamin will experience “times of joy” and “times of sorrow” as the perilous issue of civil war threatens to destroy the “national experiment” created by the noble vision of our Founding Fathers.
