Carroll caught his very first brook trout at the tender age of ten. He always maintained from the moment that 10-inch brook trout took the Parmachenee Belle fly, he and the trout were hooked! Carroll comes from several generations of outdoorsmen and women, hunters, fishermen, Guides and schoolteachers.
Initially licensed in 1989 as a Master Maine Guide, Carroll spent the next 33 years guiding hunters and fishermen in the great State of Maine and various destinations in Quebec. Carroll’s wife of 40+ years is also a lifelong outdoorsman, a Master Maine Guide, and a natural to keep pace with him.
Together, Carroll and Lila operate Fins & Furs Adventures. They provide worldwide fishing and hunting opportunities, and have taken clients to various locations in North and South America. For over thirty years, they have conducted programs for people who want to obtain their Maine Guide’s license.
The year 2020 was large for Carroll. First, Carroll received the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife’s prestigious Legendary Maine Guide award. He was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame as the first fly fisherman in no small part due to amassing 52 World Fly Fishing Records through the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.
