As a Master Maine Guide, Carroll Ware has enjoyed a lifetime of experiences and met many people who have become incredibly important to him for many reasons. He continues to be amazed at the full and exciting life he has led. Leading this life has provided an endless stream of priceless moments, many of which he describes in this book. He has, in his career as a Master Maine Guide and International Travel Consultant with Lila at his side, had so many interesting and sometimes unusual people come and go. Many of those people who were so special to him, he has attempted to recognize and honor in this book.

Carroll caught his very first brook trout at the tender age of ten. He always maintained from the moment that 10-inch brook trout took the Parmachenee Belle fly, he and the trout were hooked! Carroll comes from several generations of outdoorsmen and women, hunters, fishermen, Guides and schoolteachers.
Initially licensed in 1989 as a Master Maine Guide, Carroll spent the next 33 years guiding hunters and fishermen in the great State of Maine and various destinations in Quebec. Carroll’s wife of 40+ years is also a lifelong outdoorsman, a Master Maine Guide, and a natural to keep pace with him. Together, Carroll and Lila operate Fins & Furs Adventures. They provide worldwide fishing and hunting opportunities, and have taken clients to various locations in North and South America. For over thirty years, they have conducted programs for people who want to obtain their Maine Guide’s license. The year 2020 was large for Carroll. First, Carroll received the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife’s prestigious Legendary Maine Guide award. He was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame as the first fly fisherman in no small part due to amassing 52 World Fly Fishing Records through the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. This book of true stories comes directly from Carroll’s lifetime in the outdoors. |
